WiFi. It’s all around us from the McDonalds across the street to the office next door. Our phones remind us constantly that we are surrounded by access to fast, reliable Internet on every corner. But for businesses that need constant connectivity for thousands of reasons, how can you be sure that your company’s WiFi is available everywhere you need it to be?
At TSAChoice, our wireless survey discovery program leaves no stone unturned. We’ll uncover your needs, develop a bulletproof plan, and install a sound system to keep you connected.
What Are Your Wireless Needs
First, our sales staff will do an initial discovery interview and walk-through onsite for no charge. He or she will ask essential questions, like: “What are you using your network for?” A smaller business, like a cafe, is most interested in the point of sale services and public browsing. Thus, it will need a very different system than a larger company running enterprise software, graphics, or databases over its wireless network. Other questions include: “Will you be allowing BYOD, or ‘bring your own devices’ on your network? How many actual devices can you see maxing out your network?”
Before our salesperson leaves, they’ll need a floor plan. A copy of a fire escape plan could work, or something a little more detailed. And then, the sales team will hand the task of designing the wireless network over to our engineering team.
Additional Wireless Discovery Considerations
Once we have a good understanding of your needs, other information will need to be gathered. Many of these questions address additional network and building requirements that could add costs to your Wireless Network estimate.
In some cases, this will require a site visit by a network engineer to determine some of the following:
- Does the customer have enough ethernet ports in their existing infrastructure to support the access points and switching?
- Does the Cat5 or Cat6 cabling support the bandwidth needs for this network?
- What kind of building will the network reside in?
- Are the walls concrete? Or sheetrock?
- Are there lots of obstructions that would weaken or block adequate signal?”
The sales engineering team will then gather all of the responses, complete a heat map, and determine the cost of your business wireless network. Upon final review and approval, this will turn into a proposal that is packaged and ready to be presented to the customer by the sales team.
Once our teams meet about your job, and technicians install and implement the system, you’ve had a team of up to 8 network experts look at your design.
Is this overkill? No way! It’s just the right way to do it. And of course, we’ll warranty your job down the road and make sure that your company’s wireless network covers you in WiFi signal like a nice warm blanket on a winter day.
